Today, under a clear blue sky with a temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius, we played in Delft at Golfbaan Delfland. Just next to Rotterdam, so very easy for me to drive to, there is an oases rest and nice green fields. It is so close to Rotterdam, that, when you are on the driving range or on some holes, you can see the beautiful skyline of this amazing city.

The famous dutch golfcourse arcitect Gerard Jol made this beautiful 18 holes par 72 of 5835 meters. It has 4 holes par 5, 10 holes par 4 and 4 holes par 3. There is a lot of water and some bunkers here and there, but overall it is not a difficult course to play. Only the wind can play tricks with your ball if you don't watch out. Ok, we are high handicapers, but still i think that low handicapers won't find this course to exciting. So is it a waist of money to play here? Well no. The genaral atmosphere and holes combined make it a nice place to visit. And than you have hole 14. This is a long par 4 of 362 meters with a dogleg to the right. It is not really a dogleg but just a big water hazzard, so if you are a big hitter you can try to go for the flag. I tried it once and my ball took some swimming lessons. So i will play it safe and just except a few extra strokes.

I lost my ball! I hope she didn't make a mistakes.

What is also different is the driving range. It is for the most part a big lake so it is easy to se where your ball lands. I for sure won't hit my ball to the other side. There are in totall 56 spots, 28 on the 1st floor and 28 on the second. Two entances make it ease to find a free spot and for only € 2,- you get enough ball to warm up the muscles.

So all thing considered, Golfbaan Delfland is a nice place to visit if you stay in Rotterdam or The Hague. The greenfee's are normal, so are the prices in the restaurant. The service in the resaurant is outstanding.

Again we went to Germany today to play at Schloss am Moyland for the first time. We arrived at around 8:30 hr and we were the first ones there. The restaurant and shop were still closed so we decided to got to the putting green and warm up a little. The weather was cold and it rained from time to time.

After a half an hour we went to the driving range. What I liked was that the ball machines accepted euros and tokens. The advantage is that you don't have to wait for the shop to open and just use 1 or 2 euro coin.

The driving range looks real good. A few greens with flags and some water in the middle makes it a nice place to practice.

After we hit some balls we went to the shop to pay for the green fees and looked around for something nice. I bought some balls and some tees and asked the man working there what time the restaurant would open. He told me that it would open 10:00 o'clock, but he asked why I wanted to know. Did I perhaps wanted a cup of coffee? "I just made some coffee, so if you want I can get you some." I was so surprised and gladly accepted his offer. What a great start of the day. Great guy!

The course at Schloss am Moyland is a really difficult one. There is a lot of water, bunkers, elevated greens, doglegs, trees and today a lot of wind and rain.

One of the best holes is the 11th hole. It is one of the longest par 5 with a tight fairway. After the drive it is still not possible to see the pin because of the strong dogleg to the right. Also the elevated green, which is 5 meters higher than the fairway, makes it one of the best once to play.
The next hole, number twelve, has to be the most difficult one of the course. Tightfairway with water along the entire right side of the fairway and the entrance to the water surrounded green which is really hard to judge makes this one an absolute nightmarefor high handicappers.

Overall Schloss am Moyland is a great place to go if you like difficult holes. I will surely go there again. I think this is one of my favorite places.

On a cold and rainy day I played this course for the second time. What I really like about this course is the diversity of each and every hole.

The fun really starts at the second hole where you have to cross water twice. This is the first one of a few holes where u have to cross water. Water is not a big issue here but something to keep in mind.

The 12th hole is one of the more difficult ones. Once again crossing water and the green on the far left side makes it impossible to see the pin.

The 15th hole is also a great hole to play. A bunker in the middle of the fairway, just in front of the dogleg to the right. When you have passed the corner there is a real nice opening in the fairway. If you can hit your drive nicely in the dogleg a par is possible. If not, the trees and bushes on the right side of this hole make it impossible to see the pin. You can play safe or try and hit the ball over the trees and bushes in seacrh of the green.

Besides the poor weather it was good fun to play this course. High handicapers will have problems to play below 100 due to the difficulty of the holes, but it is still big fun. I am sure this wont'be the last time i playe here. I look forward to adding some more nice pictures in the future.

Today we played on the course of Golfclub Oostburg. It is in the southwest of Holland, close to the Belgian border not far from Knokke (B).

What first strikes you is the amazing clubhouse.When I left the parking and first saw it, the intro of the tv series Dallas started in my head. It is very beautiful. The next thing was the warm atmosphere in the shop which is just behind the reception. Everything has a Belgium touch so warmth guaranteed, even the young woman at the reception had a lovely Belgium accent to top it all of.

The course itself is really beautiful with a few nice holes, but not really anything special. That is until you come to hole 14. On this hole you tee-off surrounded by pelicans. Pelicans in Holland, on a golfcourse? I never thought these birds were so big. When one of them took an intrest in me I took a few steps back. Not that I was afraid, but this was the first time in my life I saw one really up close and there were no bars or water between us. Help!!

Another beautiful aspect of this hole, was the small bridge that looks a lot like the bridge on the 18th hole of St. Andrews. Very pretty.

Finally the approach on the 18th hole is absolutly spectacular. Walking to the green you see the clubhouse again and everybody sitting outside to admire your final approach. In my case, a rocket like shot that went to hard over the green. I wish it was raining so everybody would be inside.

Overall a really beautiful place to play golf with two outstanding features; The clubhouse and those birds!

Today, me and my buddies played on the Krakow Valley Golf & Country Club. The first thing you will remember about playing here is the road to get there. Although we used our navigation system, it was really hard to find. The last part of the trip is through thick forest, so thick that in daytime you need your headlights.

After driving and looking for the really small signs, we finally found the course. Let me tell you, I wish we had a Hummer and not our regular stationwagon. There were rocks on this dirtroad the size of footballs and holes as deep as bunkers on St. Andrews Old Course. Driving up to the parking we noticed that there were not a lot of cars outside. The temperture was in the high 30's, celsius, but still there were not a lot of people. Was this a bad choice?

We walked to the reception area and said we made a reservation by phone from Holland. We were glad that the trip was not in vain, the reservation was in order and we booked our golf cars and went on to the driving range. After a short preparation we took of to the first hole and we were amazed.

The course was designed by Ronald Fream, an American from California who started his career in 1966 in the team of the legendary Robert Trent Jones. What he had enough of was space and he used the whole lot. From some parts of the course you can oversee the hole area with its hills and beautiful surrounding nature. We were glad that we rented some golf cars because we had forgotten our mountain boots. What a walk this would have been. The whole course is up and down.

There were a few small things we didn't like. These things had nothing to do with the course. The temperture was too high, making it difficult to focus on your game and ......the hornets, there were hundreds of them. One of them stung me in the leg so the next day i walked with one leg that could be of an elephant. Despite this leg I have never played on a course so beautiful as this one, not yet!
